Opinions Wanted-please read!
Since I haven't been able to find our digital camera for a while I decided to take my film camera and try out some film I just bought.
I am seriously considering using film 100% for my 'business', but I will only do that if I know for sure I can take them straight from negative to prints without any post processing. In some ways I like editing, but it just eats up so much of my time, and with everything I got going on, I don't have a lot of that.
These pictures still aren't as good as they would be if only I had a better lens(camera would be nice too, but that can come later). My lens is making some of these look a lot granier than they should be.
But all these pictures here are with NO editing/touch ups of any kind, with the exception of the one of Scott with the kids. I added a little contrast to that one.
Portra is a low contrast film, and you can see it, in some more than others, but in some ways I kinda like it. I am really excited to try out Portra 400 too. What do you guys think? Seriously, I want to hear opinions!
Sydney smelling the tulips with Scott, Parker, and David in the background. We walked way out where no one else was.
You're not allowed to go into the fields or I would have gotten closer to this, but I still like it.
I just couldn't get a better angle on this one...I blame the pregnant belly!
Right after I saw these in Roozengarten gardens the sun popped out and made the white lining along the top look like they were glowing. It was SO beautiful. And I have to say I'm very pleased with how this one turned out(metering wise)
Sydney putting up with her mom posing her.
This is really the only one I took in full on sunshine, and the film is far more contrasty.
These last 3 I took while playing in the backyard with the kids. I really like this one of Parker. I love that I don't have to edit it even more(unless I wanted to enhance his eyes).

Oh my goodness I love this post, and all the pictures! they're beautiful! and the picture of parker? he looks perfect his skin is like flawless! and the one of sydney posing is absolutely adorable. I love the film!
Great photos! These weren't edited? Wow, they look professional.
I love the flower that looks pokey. It reminds me of a fly trap plant.
Alicia, you have a real gift for film! These are beautiful!
Beautiful!!!! My goodness those fields are breathtaking. Nice job!!! Congrats on the baby girl, that is so exciting!!!!
I love the pictures, but I don't know if you have noticed that your blog has been croping the horizontal pictures for a few posts. So in the last picture I can only see 1/4 of David's face/body... But, for some reason the horizontal picture of David smelling the flowers isn't cropped. I have no idea how to fix that!! Also, I bet we're only seeing half of the ultrasound pictures. Anyway, thought you might want to know?
PS One of Dan's coworkers/friends came over recently and said that our wedding pictures look professional and that they should be in a magazine or something, so that's a compliment to you and Melanie!! :)
PS It's also possible that it's just my computer making it look like the pictures are cropped...
Your pictures looke great! If they look that great with no editing and film doesn't cost you a lot- go for it!
You definitely have a gift, the only concern I would have is that everyone wants a CD of their photos. Is that something you can offer? You are very gifted!!
